Enhancing Image Resolution in Photoshop: A Step-by-Step Guide
Photography has become a popular hobby for many people today. Various types of cameras have been developed to capture the best image quality. However, these cameras are not without their flaws. Sometimes, photographers need to use Photoshop because the resolution of the photo might not be quite right. This is where Photoshop comes in, offering a way to enhance image resolution.
In its latest version released in 2021, as reported by cnet.com, Photoshop introduced a new feature that allows users to increase image resolution.
In previous versions, Photoshop only had the “RAW Details” feature, which was designed to improve pixel quality. The new feature introduced to enhance resolution is called “Super Resolution.” According to helpx.adobe.com, here’s how to increase image resolution in Photoshop:
- Open the image you want to adjust in Camera Raw within Photoshop.
- Right-click on the image and select “Enhance.”
- In the Enhance Preview menu, you’ll see two options: “RAW Details” and “Super Resolution.” Choose “Super Resolution.”
- After the resolution is increased, click and hold the preview image to compare the before and after resolution.
- Click “Enhance” to download the image with the new resolution.
Although this process to increase image resolution in Photoshop may seem a bit lengthy and complicated, there’s a shortcut to make it quicker. When clicking “Enhance” on the image you want to improve, hold the Alt key on Windows or the Option key on Mac to directly open the Enhance menu. The option you previously selected, whether it’s “RAW Details” or “Super Resolution,” will automatically be applied when using this shortcut.
Photoshop also allows you to increase the resolution of multiple images at once. In the “Enhance Preview” menu, users can select multiple images to increase their resolution in one go, making the process more efficient.
